TrailblazerDX: The best conference to learn and discover Salesforce innovations

Everyone knows Dreamforce, but have you ever heard of TrailblazerDX? This year, I attended my first TDX, and it was a great experience filled with learning opportunities, exciting experiences, and innovative insights into Salesforce. There is no better way to do it than in San Francisco, California, where this great ecosystem was born. That’s why I want to share everything I experienced with the world. Will you join me?

What is Salesforce TrailblazerDX?

Beyond the experience itself, we need to talk about and demystify what TrailblazerDX is. It is the largest Salesforce developer conference. However, those who are not developers may think that this event is not for them. Nothing could be further from the truth. The first myth to dispel.

Although it may seem at first glance that the event is only for developers (even its name indicates so), it is not. This conference has all the attractive content focused in such a way that solution architects, technicians, consultants, administrators, and many other roles can attend. It also serves not only to learn about innovations in the various clouds of the main Salesforce platform but also about additional solutions such as Mulesoft, Tableau, Slack, etc.

TrailblazerDX is a great opportunity to learn and talk about more technical topics, either with Salesforce’s expert team or even with clients, partners, and trailblazers from around the world.

Novelties announced at Salesforce TrailblazerDX

As I mentioned earlier, TDX is a great time to clarify doubts, present ideas, and much more. However, during the 2023 edition, many innovations were also announced, and these are some of the “top” ones:

1. What is Einstein GPT? The World’s First Generative AI for CRM

Einstein GPT (Generative Pre-trained Transformer) is a cutting-edge artificial intelligence (AI) technology whose main objective is to offer self-generated content in Salesforce. It is considered in various use cases, including Slack, Sales, Service, Marketing, Commerce, and App Builder.

Currently, it uses a combination of natural language processing (NLP) components and data models to understand what users or organizations want to achieve. From a technical perspective, Salesforce’s goal is to have layers on top of OpenAI’s ChatGPT to fine-tune the model. Therefore, Salesforce announced a new partnership with OpenAI.

Therefore, Einstein GPT has arrived to make work more productive and improve the customer experience. As Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff commented, “Einstein GPT is another way to open the door to the future of AI for all of our customers, and we will integrate with OpenAI at launch.”

If you want to learn more about this topic, you can watch the keynote on Salesforce’s free streaming platform: Salesforce+ (you just need to log in with your Trailhead account).

2. Discovering the future of User Management for Admins

During this session, Cheryl Feldman and Gonzalo Gambino, both Salesforce Product Management Directors, presented the roadmap for User Management and its highlights. They also included demonstrations of new features such as “Enhanced Permission Set and Permission Set Group Views” and “View Object Access from the Object Manager”. Additionally, a new concept called “Metadata Groups” was introduced as a possible tool to provide administrators with more precise control over metadata access.

3. We have a new mascot in Flows: “Flo the Flying Squirrel”

Salesforce has different mascots/characters to identify its products, features, roles, and more, which helps to make the platform more enjoyable and attractive. (I admit that I’m a fan of all the mascots, but my favorite is still Blaze).

And why did Salesforce create these characters? Because they believe this makes technology fun and friendly, and inspire users to explore new paths with Salesforce.

The arrival of Flo to the ecosystem is very interesting and confirms the importance of this functionality for functional and technical roles. Indeed, we all need to understand and learn more about Flows, as it is the present and future of automation in Salesforce.

Flo also loves to be productive. He is full of energy and always improving the lives of those around him. If you want to learn more about Flo, I recommend this article by Domenique Sillet (his creator, also known as “Astro’s mom”).

4. More Flows and more than 900 ready-to-use templates

Salesforce has now enabled the official Flows course “Automate No-Code Solutions Using Flow”, which can be found on Trailhead Academy.

5. Flow expands by integrating with Slack, Mulesoft, Tableau, and RPA

With Flow, Salesforce functional and developers can take advantage of Slack, MuleSoft, and Tableau, as well as Robotic Process Automation (RPA) technology.

  • The objective of Flow with Slack is to combine Slack’s collaboration capabilities with the power of low-code automation tools to invoke enriched business processes created in Flow.
  • In the case of Tableau, customers will be able to initiate workflows in Salesforce Flow directly from a Tableau dashboard. This allows them to move from information to action and eliminate the issues that arise when switching between multiple applications to get the job done.
  • The new integration will also allow for data incorporation from any system and for processes to be invoked in any flow. Thus, Flow RPA will leverage MuleSoft’s Robotic Process Automation technology, natively integrated into Salesforce Flow, to input data or take actions from any legacy system, making comprehensive automation of each step in a flow possible.

6. ‘Trailhead Coach’ for those starting out in the world of Salesforce

That’s right. There is now a guided path from skills-based learning, free exams, to automatic interview opportunities with clients and partners. So that anyone pursuing a career in the Salesforce ecosystem has more options and can achieve it.

In her intervention at TrailblazerDX, Ann Weeby (SVP of Trailhead) mentioned that “as the digital world continues to evolve, the need to recycle has never been more important.” She added that “we are proud to lead the fight to close the skills gap and empower the next generation of Salesforce talents to achieve success in their companies”.

There were many other announcements, but before closing this article, you should know that integration licenses are now free. During the ‘True to the Core’ session, it was announced that starting March 14, 2023, organizations with Enterprise, Performance, and Unlimited editions will receive five free Salesforce integration user licenses, and additional licenses will be billed at $10 each.

You can discover more about this session on Salesforce+. And if you still have doubts about everything that Salesforce TrailblazerDX has meant, don’t hesitate to contact the S4G team.
